Need an outsiders perspective: Texts with boyfriend

Backstory: it’s his best friends birthday. Around 11:30PM the brithday boys mom reached out to me to remind me that it’s his birthday and that she’s sure he’d love if we (my bf and I) said happy birthday to him. I had already called him to say HB that morning. Spoke to my boyfriend and he said he recorded a video saying happy birthday but forgot to send it. I said he should call with sending it over cause it’s almost 12 (end of birthday). BF started getting defensive saying that he didn’t even call him for his own brithday (they were not talking at the time due to my boyfriend ignoring him which he admits) along other things even saying I like him more than I do him and that I’m taking sides. Forgetting was an accident, fine, but he also said he was super busy all day (not true but did not mention this) and got defensive out of nowhere. We ended the call there and these texts started. Just want to make sure I’m not being a total bitch cause I’m in high heightened emotions.
