Question

Your husband brought your son to work with him and said they’d be back half the day. Your son calls you at 1:30 saying they are on their way home to make him some lunch. I turn the oven on but I’m also busy with a newborn. Hours go by. Your husband texts asking if he can have a sleepover with his cousins to which I reply no that he should be home, he has a slight cold and I hadn’t seen him all day. More time goes by and by and I finally go to bed with baby. Husband comes home at 8, almost an hour past kiddos bedtime and he left my son for the sleepover. This has happened several times recently because I’ve been busy with baby he just leaves our son wherever he wants without fully discussing. I also asked him specifically to bring him home. 😤

I mean he shouldn't have left him after you said no, but don't use the cold as an excuse to not spend the night when he went to work with your husband that day. Also I don't let my kids stay ANYWHERE so I absolutely understand wanting your son home regardless!!!

Regardless of your reason for saying no, he asked you, you said no, and he did it anyway.  I would be very upset.

I personally would have got in the car and went and picked up my son and brought him home. Your husband is completely disrespectful, disregarding and undermining you. He's either being pushed over by the kid or he's doing it out of convenience for some reason. I would have went to get my kid and made my husband sleep on the couch until he could understand why what he did wasn't okay. I also wouldn't be letting my kid go out with his dad anymore if stuff like this happens often. Your husband can not just disregarding what you say needs to happen with your kids. I would have been blowing his phone up if I turned the oven on expecting my kid to come home for lunch and the first hour went by. Like what did he have to say when he got home? That's just ridiculous.

He went to work with your husband so his cold should be irrelevant to the situation. I wouldn’t have been happy with him doing the opposite of what you said when he asked what you thought about it, but at the same time you parent 50/50 so you should have come to some sort of compromise. 
At the end of the day I would want to discuss the fact that this has been happening recently and you don’t feel like you’re being respected. I wouldn’t make a huge deal out of it though. He gets to go play with his cousins, you get to (hopefully) have some time to relax.
