Was I offensive?
So recently I started working at a new place, (2.5 weeks now) I got my period a week early and there are few females in the shop. I checked my car and didn't have any tampons in so I went back in to a female coworker and said "hey, sorry to bother but do you have any tampons on you? I thought I had some in my car but I don't" and she FREAKED out on me yelling about how she's a transgender and how I'm a transphobic for that and how I'm just bringing up that fact she's not "actually" a women, etc. I stood in shock and she turned and stomped away, another female so what happened and came over and asked what I said to her, I told her I jus asked for a tampon and she went and got one for me and said not to worry about the other girl just to be more cautious who I ask next time.
I've had plenty of women ask me for tampons before and have asked plenty of women for tampons, is this something we now need to be cautious over?
Edit to add- I had no clue she was even trans, I never would've guessed. If I knew I wouldn't have asked her
