Who was wrong?

My mom, dad and I went over to my uncle’s (my mom’s brother) house for pizza/movie night. My parents bought us all pizza (we started making Wednesday night movie night a thing last Wednesday because my uncle has a physical disability where he is in a wheelchair and he never gets out of the house to see anyone. My parents always buy the pizza)

It is 49 degrees outside, and when we walked into my uncle’s apartment, it was FREEZING. My uncle had the air conditioning on full blast and It felt like an ice cube. My uncle had a blanket on. My mom had to sit directly under where the vent was blowing out cold air because it was the only seat available.

During the movie, my mom turned the AC off in front of him without asking him first. The thermostat is high up on the wall so she didn’t know if he could reach it and was concerned since it was so cold.

Throughout the night he kept making passive aggressive remarks about her turning off the AC without asking first, and then out of nowhere he blew up at my mom and screamed at her telling her if she has such an issue with the temperature in his apartment, to stop coming over. He kept screaming at her to not come over anymore.

I felt so uncomfortable and my mom was starting to cry, that I got up and said we are going and won’t be coming back for Wednesday movie nights anymore. As we were leaving my uncle was asking me and my dad if we could come over without my mom from now on. I felt so bad for my mom because she wasn’t saying anything hurtful to him in response whatsoever.

My uncle ended up sending me texts saying my mom is a narcissist for only thinking about her comfort and not anyone else’s (we were all freezing) and that she needs to learn how to be a guest, I wrote back that he needs to learn how to have guests if he’s not even going to offer a blanket.
