Brushing 1 year olds teeth

How do you guys brush your 1 year olds teeth? My daughter is 16 months and will eat the toothpaste and chew on her tooth brush but if I dare try to actually brush her teeth it’s like fighting a lion.

**Also, I will mention I’ve been cleaning her mouth since we brought her home & started brushing her mouth at about 4/5 months. I didn’t have a problem till around the 12 month mark. Now she refuses me to brush her teeth, she tries hard to brush her own but I want to do it just to make sure they’re clean.
