Only girl, no sisters?

Calling all those who don’t have a sister, just a brother/brothers. Curious how it was for you growing up? Did you wish you had a sister? My sister was my best friend, so I’m just curious how it was for those who didn’t have their sister. Just worried about my daughter being the only girl.

I grew up with one brother. While we were close growing up, I desperately longed for a sister and even repeatedly begged my mother to have another baby for this very reason. I was so jealous of the sister bond many of my friends at school had with their siblings. I think this probably stems from me having a lackluster relationship with my mom though; I doubt I would have craved that feminine companionship so much if my needs had been met in that department.

My younger brother and I were pretty close as we got older. Before that I was usually by myself while my two brothers were close and always together. I was also treated differently by my family. Like I missed out on a few things because it was a “boys day” pretty frequently but it is what it is. I don’t resent anything, we’re all pretty close now (I’m 22 and my brothers are 23&20)

So I’ve got sisters who I met when I got older as I am adopted. But I grew up with only brothers and I loved it. I never craved a sister or thought of having a sister. And even when I got to know my sisters when I was an adult I didn’t miss out on anything.

I have 7 older brothers. Honestly, I don’t understand the sister dynamic but I don’t think I’m missing out on anything. One of my older brothers adored having a little sister (apparently that’s all he’d ever ask for for Christmas) and spoiled me rotten. He was a teenager but he’d take me out with his friends, make sure I met his girlfriends, would take me to the lake and take me out for pizza. 
I have girl cousins who I was never really close to growing up. Our personalities just didn’t mesh. I think it has less to do with gender and more to do with personality.
