Help Me Figure This Out

I was celibate (by choice) for two years till I met this really charming, funny dude a few weeks ago. Our first date was ridiculously fun and we ended up hooking up (going against my general rule of no hooking up with someone on the first date). We met twice after that, all for sex. He asked me out to dinner and I said yes but I fell sick. I didn't respond to his text cause I was unwell. He double texted me after which I responded and now he's not texting me. It's been two days. Should I chuck it or give it the benefit of doubt? I am not very invested in him but he's mad fun. Argh I always find that the first date and the first time hooking up is easy. What happens after that is the biggest headache ever. How do you ladies navigate this critical area of operation and do I text him again?
