You have $3,200 to your name, inconsistently being paid by self employment so nothing is the same monthly.
Rent is $689 total, to move in is about $1,000.
You’re facing homelessness in 5 days, you can’t turn to family and you have zero friends.
Hotels are expensive weekly (about $300 if not more)..
Do you.. Get the apartment then figure it out? Or what?

Although your income is inconsistent what are you bringing in on average? Are you confident that your income will cover your rent, bills, food etc? The 3600 will cover your deposit and the little bits and pieces you will need but you need to be sure your income will cover everything without touching what is left over from the 3600.

Yes, get the apartment and then reach out to human resources, explan your situation and apply for food and cash assistance. Nothing is more important than giving your baby a roof over their head.
Depending on your state there are other ways you can get monetary help and other resources.

How much on average do you earn through your self employment? Will you be getting child support? Im leaning towards get it, but if you have little to no income and cant pay rent within 2-3 months now youll face an eviction and ruin any credit you may have which will set you back even more. If youre fleeing abuse, youre entitled to stay at a domestic violence shelter until youre on your feet. You just have to tell them you are fearful for your safety and you qualify. I used to work for one, and some are actually decent eg you get your own studio. Another option if you dont have childcare is to nanny for another family for a lower rate than usual but you get to bring your own child too.

Get the apartment. That is a good price and hard to come by now a days. Also, once you have residency you can apply for things like food stamps and daycare assistance to help you get back on your feet and find a job. Have you applied for food stamps? Welfare? Housing assistance? These things aren't immediate, but you're going to need all of these things to help you pay for your expenses and provide for your child. These services exist for a reason and are certainly attainable. Find your local Department of Human Services (DHS) office, go stand in line, and get these benefits!! Get that apartment and work on having some of these benefits to help with costs by next month's rent. It is possible, but requires effort- take your kid to DHS office and spend the day if you have to.
