No period but negative test

I stopped my birth control a month ago. When I was on it my periods were super irregular, some month I would get it bad(rarely), some months I’d get it normal and most months I just get spotting. There were times where I would forget to take the pill and would have a full blown period the next day. I was expecting this months period to be bad with it being the first months off but I’m 3 days late and the digital pregnancy test is negative. Has anyone ever had this happen to them before? Should I take a regular pregnancy test with the lines??
