Why do I put him out when I’m mad

I want to really work on myself and stop doing the same things that ruin my relationships. Well one in particular my ex fiancé. We dated for years and when I would get pissed or find out he cheated one time I told him to get out. He said that he hates to be put out when I j ow he has no where else to go. My question is when you have a fight with your significant other have you ever told them to leave the house? I know it’s wrong if it’s supposed to be “our place” But for me I paid most of the bills because he wasn’t working. I just don’t want to take that toxic behavior into my next relationship.
