How do I make him change?

Hey! 
My boyfriend and I have been together for one year and 6 months, and we are at the stage of fighting a lot. The problem is that, we both don’t know how to argue, our last fight was two days ago, and honestly I am the most peaceful haha I tried to calm everything, but sometimes he just does not let go. 
I was talking to him, trying to make him understand and his responses were like “yeah” 
I told him that those responses make me believe that he does not care of what I am telling him. 
He is the cutest guy ever, but in moments if arguing he is just so hardheaded.

There’s also no such thing as a fighting stage. It’s either your dynamic or it’s not. It either works or it doesn’t.

You contradict yourself. You said that he wouldnt let things go but then you said that you were trying to make him understand and he was just responding with yeah. To me that sounds like he was done with the conversation and you were the one continuing it to make your point. You cant change him and if that's what you're trying to do then you are too immature for a mature relationship.

Maybe try couples counseling. It's honestly hard to tell over an app whats going wrong. Are you bringing up too many issues vs letting things go? Do you use absolute statements? Expect him to be someone hes not? Does he scoff and dismiss you? Without knowing the dynamics of your fights, it's hard to advise you. But I will say, you CANNOT get someone to change. People are who they are and you cant be in a relationship hoping to fix the other. You can only control yourself so at most you can try to change your approach and effort to see if that inspires  change in him.
