Childrens gifts MIL

I don't have a good relationship with my MIL for multitude of reasons. We took her out to eat Monday. She made a comment about my children's birthday gifts being too much. We also noted MIL gave our kids nothing. She asked what they got I mentioned mostly stuffed animals which we returned to buy summer clothes but bubbles and chalk we kept and the gifts from my oldest son's godmother. She just kept repeating quantity of the gifts. I don't want to go on defense but no one buys gifts for any other holiday but us the parents. We also never ask for anything. We are raising a kid, toddler, and I'm pregnant and gifts are welcomed. Our kids get two gifts each christmas and one basket for easter thats it yearly. It rubbed me the wrong way. My kids had a combined party so most people gave a gift for them to share anyways not separate which was generous. Just I get annoyed by the judgment. Do your kids get gifts for their birthday's does your MIL bring up on multiple occasions the quantity?
