OBGYN wouldn’t help me with PPD

So my youngest is almost 8 months. I’ve really been struggling with depression and anxiety since he was like 4 months. I’ve been putting off getting help but finally worked up the nerve to call my OBGYN to schedule an appt. I left a voicemail and my doctor called me back and said since I’m 8 months postpartum if I’m depression or anxious it’s no longer postpartum related so I need to go to therapy. I was a little thrown off. Is that true?

I guess I was under the impression it could happen for like a year after you have the baby.

I’m having trouble finding a therapist who takes my state insurance and I can’t afford to pay out of pocket. I feel really defeated and even worse than I did before. 😞
