this upcoming weekend we have an event to attend and my boyfriends ex (the one before me) is attending as well.. it got brought up that i seen she was gonna be there also, so i jokingly said “ah (so and so) is gonna be there this weekend are you excited to see your girl” and he said “i mean i’m not, not gonna talk to her or her family.. they’re cool people” and now he’s mad at me cause i feel some type of way that he literally is admitting to gonna be talking to HER IN MY FACE basically

Maybe he wasn’t intentionally going to go and seek her out to talk, but if they were to say hello or bump into each other, maybe he’s not going to be rude and ignore her. I would just worry about having a good night with your boyfriend and not the fact that his ex and her family are going to be there.

If he has no bad blood with her and her family and has no reason not to be civil, where is the issue with simply exchanging pleasantries at a mutual event? There’s nothing in it, it’s purely innocent, which is made clear by the fact that he told you. What would you have him do, blatantly ignore her for no reason? That’d be a bit rude, and would make things unnecessarily awkward. You’ll be there too, what do you think is going to happen? He says hello to her and spontaneously slips and falls into her vagina on the dance floor? Choose your battles, this one isn’t worth the stress and petty stuff like this will eventually take its toll on both of you.

it’s perfectly fine that you have this initial reaction and feeling, it does usually trigger people to see your partner talk to an ex. However, you will be there, surrounded by people including her family. I’m sure it’ll be more awkward than anything, and it really depends on his behavior during the event. As long as it’s not some long, alone conversation with his ex it should be fine. Maybe a “hi, how u been”, he better introduce you and leave her at that. Just wait until this event plays out. If he’s the right guy for you, he will make sure not to make you feel uncomfortable. People on here saying “what he can’t talk to people” are ignoring the fact that it’s his ex lol it’s not the same as speaking to anyone else. You got this 👍🏼
