He ate 24.5oz!
I’m so proud of my son! That’s the most he’s ever eaten!
Background: he was born at 27 weeks. He’s now 7.5m (4.5m corrected). Eating has always been an issue for him. He did okay when we brought him home at 3.5m old but quickly lessened the amount and took forever to feed him. Plus, his shunt malfunctioned and it took forever to get it fixed so the pain and pressure made eating very hard for him. Poor guy.
He’s been in feeding therapy for a month or two now. He was on a higher calorie recipe for his formula (2 scoops to 3.5oz) and the goal was 21/22oz in a day. He was averaging 16-19oz.
Like 2 weeks ago he was averaging 20/21 with the higher calorie recipe. He was still only eating about 2oz every 2hrs. We decided to switch back to the normal recipe (2 scoops to 4oz) and encourage larger volumes in a feed and hope to get 24+oz.
Well 3 days ago, something must’ve clicked for him! He’s been taking 3.5-4oz every 2-3hrs. He’s been drinking 23oz until today…he drank 24.5oz! Finally!
He’s also finally rooting for the bottle and enjoying eating!
I’m so proud of him! 🎉
Now to tackle the damn constipation and get back on his growth curve. 🙃 growth curve went from 80% to 65% to 20% to 18%
Hopefully he continues to improve and impress me! My strong tiny T-Rex! 🫶🏻
