￼Do you know anyone actively on hard core drugs and on the streets?
I was browsing on Instagram and I came across this video of a social media influencer going around recording all the drug addicts￼ downtown of the state I live in and as I watching this video I recognize this voice and this person who looks so familiar, so I had to watch the video four times before ￼it hit me!! This was my best friend of 20 something years! On the downtown streets of our home state drug out. Away from her 3 babies We stopped talking in 2018/2019 because some messy drama she try to start on Facebook. I’m not a social media user but something told me to go on there that day and a lot came to light she hasn’t had her kids since 2018/2019 maybe even before that. Off and on through the years I have always checked on the kids and her mom, as I said we been friends since freshman year of high school. I was there when she had her first baby. Her mom loves me and I lover mom to death. So I reached out to her  to see how the family is doing and I guess someone from the old friend group told her about the video. It breaks my heart she has to find out about it. Her mom also told me the kids are separated she has the youngest and the two oldest are with an aunt in another state. It really breaks my heart!  The last time I seen the kids was a couple months before covid!! 
How did you deal with seeing a friend or a family member on actively on drugs years after not seeing them?

I’m not trying to be an asshole, I’m truly asking what’s there to deal with on your part? You haven’t been friends for five years. How is this about you? It not impacting your life, you didn’t know and haven’t been there for all the pain, trauma and sadness this has caused. There’s nothing for you to “deal” with. It doesn’t impact your daily life, you’re not living with them, you’re not raising the children, you’re not growing up with a mom who’s off doing drugs while you’re separated from siblings, etc.  Do you feel guilty in some way or are you planning on stepping in to help- is that what you mean? 
Yes to your question. My family is filled with addicts and alcoholics. People involved with addicts feel hurt, angry, pain, sadness and grief. There’s a lot of pain and worry that comes with addiction- whether you’re the addict, or a family member or friend in the addicts life. 
I could go on.

I guarantee you know several people on drugs who are housed and employed 🤷
Lots of things can lead to a person ending up on the streets and it can happen to any of us.

I have a cousin who is addicted to fentanyl living on the streets. No one to deal with her. I have a aunt who a alcoholic, no one wants to deal with her either. We have cut them out of our life’s due to the the hurt, drama. all the lying. I personally think since you haven’t spoken in a long time it’s some thing you shouldn’t have to feel some guilt over. My ex fiancé was a meth addict. I watched him go down hill fast. I ended the relationship because of it. My ex best friend was also a meth addict and I no longer to her. Do I miss them yes but I feel no guilt of letting them go. They choose to not get help and change.

I get your point and I don’t see you as being an asshole. I guess it was more as venting. I just never imagined us real drifting so much apart ￼in our friendship and her turning to drugs like that. And then being exposed on the internet like that  was really a big wake up call. I do feel guilty, I was once in the kids life’s pretty regularly and now I’m not! I was an aunt to them, someone they looked up too. Took them for the day or weekend. I don’t want to be the type of person to be in and out of peoples life’s ,especially kids life’s. But I’m just glad that they are with family and are doing well.
