Am I a germaphobe or just cautious?

Ka

Hi everyone, I am almost a year post partum and I’m not the most organized or tidiest person. As a SAHM with my almost stage 5 clinger one year old, house is a mess 90% of the time.

I’m okay sharing drinks with my husband or my baby (might be bad for him my bad but I’m cautious when I feel sick or I’m going to be). If his teether falls on the floor or a stuffy I didn’t get to wash I let him eat it.

It still bothers me and I still get anxiety of him getting sick or chemicals from it etc., but I think I’ve learned to let go since people tell me I should let then explore and gain immunity…

I have been like this (worse) even before I had my baby.

Here are some things I usually do/worry about:

•Public Playgrounds/ Amusement Park, things alike: The germs, the viruses. We had go to Dino world and bubble world and I was excited but my anxiety was through the roof. I would wipe everything down my baby would possibly make contact with.

•Public restrooms, Airports, Planes especially, public places in general: I avoid using public restroom unless I really have to. If I do I sanitize it first and make sure no part of my body is touching it.

•Highchairs and tables, shopping carts: I always clean and sanitize. I have Travel Size Clorox wipes, Lysol Spray, Purefy Spray, Baby Hand wipes, Wet ones, and 99% alcohol spray in my diaper bag and purse.

I do not know if this is something I should get medical help with..

I do not take away experiences from my baby because of my fears and my husband helps me by reminding me he’s gonna be ok.

I am always worried, anxious, and honestly I wouldn’t do these myself really.

Friends and family say I may be a germaphobe but I don’t think I am (if you are, I think there is no problem with that at all)

I am mostly scared of “outside germs” or my husband likes to call it “stranger/ other people germs”.

sorry for long and maybe dumb post but I just don’t understand since I can be quite messy and I am not that worried about dirt at home etc but when it comes to public places/ other people sick I get so anxious, especially in a confined space.
