Am I wrong or is my husband?

Me and my husband went out to have dinner with my sister and her husband. They split a filet mignon. Ours was good. We asked how there's was and they were saying it was delicious. Towards the end of our meal my sister flagged down the server to tell him that this wasn't medium. It was medium well and they had a very tiny piece of their steak left. Like a crumb. They demanded it be remade and they spoke to the manager and the manager agreed. Yeah it was embarrassing but the manager agreed so I let it go. My husband already left a very large tip for the server and told me at home he's not going out with them again if they're gonna act like that and it's disrespectful to ask for a new meal after you've eaten almost all of the first one. I said it was embarrassing but if their steak was cooked wrong than it was cooked wrong. My husband said their steak was not cooked wrong and they clearly just wanted a second steak. It was a ridiculous argument and imo not a reason to say he's never eating out with my sister and BIL again. Well THEN the next day my husband said he's going back up there to apologize and pay for that second steak because they're a struggling business. I said he's being ridiculous and if anything my sister should be the one paying for it and he said she's clearly not. We fought over this but he still went back and paid. I think he's overreacting. Sure maybe my sister and her husband were being Karen's and just wanted a free steak but this isn't worth not having dinner out with them again and spending an extra 30 bucks on a steak
