When is it right to have sex with a guy ?

I’m dating this guy it’s only been about a month dates have met my expectations, we get along so well, we’re on the same page as far as what we’re looking for we had our first kiss a few days ago and it got hot and heavy I almost lost my strength lol I do want to wait until I get commitment but there’s another part of me that wants him so bad. the last time I waited for commitment we were sexually incompatible no amount of talking and guidance helped I was miserable when do you think it’s a good time to sleep with someone? I’m just afraid of being used and things not working out after, we had a talk about how men act once you have sex too early and he agreed that the “mystery” is gone for some guys once sex happens too soon so they don’t commit (he didn’t necessarily say he believed that) but it sorta gave that he did.
