Broke down crying in parent teacher confront
My son's school for deaf students got shut down last year so he has had to go to a regular public school. They got an interpreter for him but he's really been struggling. He's going through depression because he has no friends. He told me that in his history class when they had to get in groups everyone got in their group and it took the teacher half way through class to realize he didn't have a group and she just threw him in one. It was a meeting with the principal and the SPED teacher. We have issues with them not always having an interpreter which causes him to struggle more and before people suggest home school, he would not thrive in a home school setting. I expressed to them that I feel like they aren't trying hard enough to make sure my son is included. They tried to tell me they are and they're doing their best. They don't always have interpreters so it makes things difficult. I told them they think things are difficult for them how do they think my son feels. This is the first year he has had no friends. I'm not saying force people to be his friend but when there are groups projects make sure he's being included. He's extremely depressed and lonely. They just kept assuring me they're doing their best with what they have and I just started crying. I felt embarrassed about it but I just couldn't keep it together and cried. I guess I just needed a vent session because it sucks when the world feels like it wasn't made for your child.
