Is he lying about drug use?

Question

A friend said him and his mom got into it because she found an “old” straw with residue of coke fall out of his bag when he took something out.

When I asked how long ago this was he said in May.

He mentioned how he walked through airport TSA and all and wasn’t stopped, his mom made a big deal, and to which I can understand.

He states that he thoroughly searched his bag and didn’t see it, and that it must have been hiding in the creases of his bag.

When I mentioned how that kinda contradicted what he said (it just happened to fall out when he took something out of his bag) he kinda got defensive and shut down then jumped the gun talking about how he passed a drug test and she (his mom) is still bitching.

He’s 30 something years old, idk I feel like it’s a bs story & I’m not wanting to be friends with someone who uses..

If you don't trust him, then don't be friends with him. That's the most important thing I can tell you about it. Cocaine doesn't take that long to get out of your system. All that test would mean is that he has not used in 72 hours or so. Meaning he might not be using every day, but that doesn't mean he's not using at all. On the other hand, it could be an old straw. But his story doesn't really make sense like you said. From my personal experience with users, if he's used it in the past, it is likely that he still uses it. ￼￼￼

I dated an addict. Every lie he said was plausible. But getting that mad when you call out how it doesnt make sense, screams he is lying to me.
