Did you ever get a gift for someone and was excited about it, but then when you gave it to them, they didn’t seem to like it ??

Last year I saw a coffee mug that sits on a plate that you can warm up with an app on your phone.  I thought it was cool. My mom is a coffee drinker so I thought it would be a nice gift. And it was unique. 
She didn’t seem too excited when she opened it 😂😂 I was a little embarrassed. 
I usually get her clothes , jewelry and makeup and wanted to get her something unique and thoughtful.

It’s hard to say. Not everyone knows how to express themselves when opening gifts.
My little sister is very expressive. Me not so much. 
Unless they say they don’t like it or clearly express they don’t like it, I don’t assume one way or another.

Im the type to throw it back on them and ill often say before opening it, i hope you like it. Its the thought that counts right? Downplays it so they can lower their e pectations and wont be disappointed lol. Yes i can be manipulative lol
