Confused afff

So yesterday I tested positive for having LH surge. I don't know if ovulated though. I'm supposed to get my period on the seventh after having it from the 7th-12th of January. I'm having really bad period cramps right now though so I'm confused. Can you have the surge and not ovulate? I thought you get your period 10-16 days after ovulation, I was hoping my cycle was back to normal. Not sure if I'm having ovulation cramps or not. Do ovulation cramps feel like period cramps. ?

My cycle right now is very short I bleed every 8 days or so because of me getting my IUD removed in october. I've been bleeding literally every other week since the week before thanksgiving. I took another surge test today and it wasn't super dark but there was some color. Lighter than yesterday.

But I am getting my IUD back in on the seventh because of my constant painful bleeding in my bleeding is extremely heavy. 🤦🏻‍♀️
