Why ban this??

I live on a base as my husband is a Marine (Im ex airforce), my kids go to a school on base funded by the DoD. Why was this book banned with the DEI sweep? Are we now saying kids with freckles trying to get self-confidence is now woke? We have read that book many times...it.is very cute and has a good message. So dumb. Anyone wanna tell me why they agree with this if they do? Who has *actually* read the book not just assuming something must be in it. Feels like a slap in the face as I fought to protect our freedoms, my husband is still protecting our freedoms and my kids are having theirs limited without any hood explanation. ******my husband is protecting your ability to spew your dumb views on banning books. Bases are all iver the world and.not every base in in a county with a public library system that is easily accessible to foreigners. My kids deserve to be in a school with a library that isnt censoring unnecessary things they don't know about. And even when service families can access local libraries if they are stationed abroad doesn't mean their libraries have books in English, or books about things like native americans, parts of US history, or people relevant to them. Banning books is what scared dictators do. No military spouse, active military or any teacher on base wants this. This isn't freedom.
