How long did it take to heal from MILs gender disappointment?

We had our gender reveal today and my MIL stole the moment. I'm still reeling from everything. 
We're having a boy (our first child) and naming him after my grandfather who is determined to live long enough to meet him. My grandfather is an amazing man but he's 93 and has prostate cancer with a poor prognosis.
We did the reveal and my MIL instantly started shouting "No! No! Nooooo!" And had this whole thing about how "You have to be joking! I'm not accepting this. This is ridiculous!" And then she made this huge dramatic exit while ranting. She even grabbed her gift off the table and slammed the door as she left. 
She completely ruined our moment AND everyone spent the rest of the day talking about her. I told my husband that I kind of want to cut her out but he's like oh she's my mom... You know how she is... She just wants another girl because she had four boys and only has one granddaughter who's a tomboy. 
It just hurt how she acted this way in front of everyone and also stole our moment. I'm sad for my grandfather too because he was so excited. We asked him if we could name our baby after him, if it was a boy, when we first got pregnant and he was thrilled. That excitement was totally overshadowed by my MIL and her theatrics. 
She also blocked us on everything and ignored my husband's phone calls so there's that element too.
Do you think we'll ever "get over" it? How do you even start?

Cut her out. She already made it clear that she doesn't want to be a part of your life or your baby's life. Sucks, but sometimes the family tree needs a good pruning. I wouldn't even attempt to heal from whatever that was. 
Work on your husband. That's not ok that he tried to make excuses for her. That's problematic.

Wow. I’m sorry. I’d be pissed. She stole your moment and acted like a total child. There are a lot of red flags there you should discuss with your husband. Feel how you feel. She owes you both a huge apology and will be lucky if you entertain an apology.  She sounds super immature though so she probably doesn’t see anything wrong. Sorry again. I wouldnt let it get to you. Id laugh at her. That all spunds ridiculous on her part. She cut tou off? Sounds like she did tou a favor. Lol Not trying ti make light if your feelings. Theyre valid. She likely has had this fantasy since she was very young of having a little daughter she can do girly stuff with like do nails and mini-me stuff and then she didnt get that with her kids, then she thought ok well as a grandma I will get to have my dream come true and now her dream isnt happening still. I have a friend who is similar and while I hope she will never have a tantrum like this she is setting herself up for failure with this kind of fantasy of 'Ive always wanted...' for a scenario that is out of our control because we cant control the gender of our kids nor what they may or may not be into and in all honesty doing nails with your daughter/granddaughter isnt *that* important so theyre just hung up on the idea of it more than anything. Im not justifying what she did, Im just saying it likely comes from decades of frustration of not getting this 'need' met and now shes having a tantrum over life not giving her what she wants. If shes otherwise a decent woman then maybe give her some grace. Hopefully she will come around and apologize. Dont let her own issues squash your joy. I dont think she ruined your reveal, she made a fool of *herself* not you or your big day. You and your family can still be happy even if she stomps off like a toddler and now shes off to herself dealing with her own issues. Whatever. Congrats and I think naming him after your grandpa is so cool.
