Is it weird that I don't want a baby?

Me and my husband are foster parents. We are child free by a biological stand point. I am open to adopting but the thing about me is I don't want babies or small children. I've fostered teens with problems with catching things on fire. I'm fostered sexually aggressive teenagers. I've fostered violent teenagers. And I would rather deal with all that than a baby. Or a small child. So if I was to adopt I feel like they would have to be at least 13. Is that weird?

Not weird and actually very much needed. Everyone goes for babies or toddlers and that leaves older kids and teenagers aging out of the system and no families to support them in any way. You would be doing a good thing by adopting older kids. That's super awesome and i hope it works out for you 🤗

I'm so happy to read this. My sister and I were just talking about if I were to adopt one day, I feel like I would have to adopt a baby or toddler, not only because I love that age, but also because I don't feel I would be equipped to deal with traumas of an older child. But I said, and my sister agreed, we just hope there are people out there who are equipped and able to handle all of that because those kids still need love and support. So I am really happy only a couple hours later to read your words. You are an answer to prayers for so many. Those pre teens or teens will benefit so much from your care. And I'm thankful that even though I probably can't do it, you are strong enough to. Thank you! 💕
