Need advice for newborn around the holidays
Hi mamas! Some context- We’re due with our first baby on Thanksgiving day! We have a huge family. Moms side, Dads side, husbands side, etc. we make rounds to 3 houses each holiday. We’ll be skipping out on thanksgiving visits this year unless he arrives after.
My need for advice is surrounding baby’s first Christmas and his health. My sister in law said I shouldn’t bring baby around to Christmas this year, or that I shouldn’t let anyone hold him so he doesn’t get sick. Baby’s health is obviously my top priority, but I couldn’t imagine missing Christmas with my family! He’ll be a month old, and that is about the time we’ve deemed comfortable to start taking him places. Is it really necessary to ask my family members not to hold him when we visit? Washing hands and no kissing will be an absolute rule.. but please share your opinions on the rest. I don’t want him passed around like a little toy, but I also can’t imagine asking my own great grandmother to look and not touch. I didn’t think she’d even get to meet my first baby. I’m conflicted on this and have never been the kind to have to set hard boundaries. Let’s chat about it!
