what are the pros and cons of what you’re doing? I am breastfeeding and it has been much easier than pumping with my other child!!

I've done all 3. Exclusively pumping was the worst. My husband had to be up every time I pumped because he needed to feed the baby. So neither of us got any sleep. There were an insane amount of things to wash 24/7 because there were bottle parts, pump parts, milk storage jars, nipple sheilds, ect. Formula was easy, but the formula shortage when my youngest was born was really freaking scary and if it wasn't for my SIL then my youngest would have literally starved to death. No matter how hard I tried I couldn't get my supply back after a month long case of mastitis and her ties made it impossible to latch. 2 months of trying my hardest to re-establish supply with literally nothing to show for it.

Answer

I strictly pumped until my son was 6. He was on formula for the first year due to blood thinner meds I was on. I pumped and used my breast milk in his bath water. He was able to consume my breast milk when he was 1. I’ll do the same with my next child. I was an over producer and had to purchase a separate freezer for my milk.
