Has anyone ever gone to therapy for a phobia?

Not sure if that’s a thing but I have a bad phobia when it comes to roaches. I can’t function if I know one is in the house and I can’t/won’t sleep until it is killed. Even just looking at pictures of them or seeing one makes me want to throw up and gives me chills. They get really bad during the summer and my husband is gone for work most of the day, not back until 11pm at night. They have been coming out a lot lately and it makes me not want to live here (I know that sounds drastic). I’m scared for it to be night (that’s when they usually come out) and have been locking myself in our room lately. Two days ago a wood roach came out, I tried to kill it myself because my husband wouldn’t be back until 2 hours later but the closer I got, the room started to spin more, hands got super sweaty and I almost fainted. I have my 8 month old with me so that wouldn’t have been good. I literally watched the area of the house until he got home and killed it. I just want to make this situation better, im tired of being scared of them but it’s really hard to get past. I just have a ton of bad experiences with them.

1. When I was little, my grandma would squash them and act like she was going to throw them at me until one day she actually did. I remember crying my eyes out and she just laughed at me.

2. One fell on my head while I was using the restroom.

3. When I was 18, one crawled in my ear while I was sleeping and that whole experience with them taking it out was horrifying.

4. My childhood home was invested with them and one crawled in my shirt.

I just feel so done with myself at this point. I’ve always been this way and I’m ready to get over it.
