Can a renewal of birth control make you emotional?

So i just started my renewal of my birth control. I've been taking it for almost a year and haven't had any big problems so far. I've been taking the Larin 1/20 which, from my understanding, is a very low hormone birth control. I've haven't had any emotional highs or lows of note from it in the first year I'd been taking it, however lately I've felt an extreme shift of emotions since I've started this new round. I've taken a couple pregnancy tests that came out negative so I know that's not the case. I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced this and if switching to a different birth control brand might make me feel better. I've been very depressed and anxious lately and I can't tell if it's the birth control or if something is wrong with me. I also can't understand why if it is the birth control, it would make me this emotional after a year. I've never felt this out of control with my emotions and just want to feel okay again. I'm looking into the iud as well, so if anyone has insight on that, i would appreciate it as well. Thank you, ladies ❤️
