Full Term Low Birth Weight ?

Question

Anyone have any really small babies? I had a scheduled c section last Monday (12/28) due to him being breech. I was 39 weeks 4 days. I measured right on track my entire pregnancy. His sonograms always were normal.

I remember no one ever giving me a guess as to how big he was because "they're never accurate" so I really wanted to find out how big he was. I didn't see him for about 5-10 after he was out so I was pretty anxious. When they called it out I was confused. 5lbs 7oz ! My husband & I were in disbelief. I didn't drink. I don't smoke. I Ate.. Why is he just so tiny? I guess I feel guilty. I know it's not my fault but I feel like it is since he's term. Anyone else? I find preemie posts... But he's not a preemie. He's just preemie size. & of coarse they hardly make things small enough to fit... So his clothes are just gigantic as of now.

He's just a petite little guy, no worries. As long as he's healthy his weight is nothing to feel guilty about.

I know the feeling, but if your baby is healthy, it doesn't matter if he is small. He is gorgeous, too! Don't feel guilty, you took care of yourself while pregnant, and you will continue to take care of your baby, we all come in different sizes.

I delivered my son at 38 weeks we all thought he was gonna be 8 pounds or more and instead he is 6 pounds 4 ounces and dropped down to 5 pounds 11 oz he was in preemie clothes for a while. And diapers lol he is just now fitting in newborn and he is about to be 4 weeks old lol

My sister went full term and my niece was 4.5 lbs.  They said her placenta looked dry?! But no real cause/reason. She is now 3 and perfect and beautiful! My brother and sister in law just had their baby girl (my other niece) and they monitored her the whole time because she was tiny. She made it to 38 weeks and was born at 3.5 lbs. They thought she was going to be at least 4.5.  The only thing they could tell her was that her placenta was SUPER thick and small. Almost like she didn't have enough room to grow.  Anyways she also is doing perfect and is gorgeous! My dad was full term born at 5 lbs.  sometimes just the norm for certain bodies... No real answers:/. My daughter was born 7.3lbs and I'm over due with my son right now so I'm really curious about his weight!  Your baby is beautiful!!

My baby was 5p 9o. I was told because I had a small placenta, no room to really grow. I was 39 weeks when I got induced because my fluid was low. She is two weeks now and eats like no other. Currently weighing 6p 12o.

My daughter was a peanut when she was born. 6lbs even. Completely healthy though. She's 4months shy of turning 4years old now and still completely healthy, right on track with her weight and in the 100th percentile for her height (she's as tall as a 6year old). As long as baby is healthy, there shouldn't be a problem.

My two sisters and I were all born full term under 6 pound. The heaviest being myself at 5 lbs 10 oz, the littlest being 4 pound 9 oz.

I went over my DD. and my little guy was 6 pounds 3 ounces. I felt bad cause they guessed he was going to be a big baby so I packed more 3 month clothing then newborn and he's drowning in his clothes.

Both of my girls were born at 38w 1d. My first was 5 12 and I gained 55lbs with her and had a huge belly. Everyone told me she was going to be 8lbs at least. My second was 7 13 and I only gained 25 and everyone said she was going to be a peanut too. I was healthy and active throughout both pregnancies.

I was one day past my due date and my little guy came out 5lbs 7oz as well. Not sure why I did everything right during the pregnancy.
