Am I too old to learn something new

My boyfriend skis and his whole family skis. I never went before but he is planning on teaching me next month.

I’m already a bit nervous because I’m in my 20s and trying this for the first time.

Today for Thanksgiving, both his and my family made fun of me and was saying how I’m probably not gonna get off the bunny slope and my mom said that I shouldn’t go and that I’m too old to start.

So now I feel defeated already.

Any advice? I told my bf that they all upset me and idk if I even want to go now. He got mad at me and told me that they were just kidding. But I took it to it heart and it hurt my feelings.
