Would you leave your 16 month old with grandparents at a resort for a day?

My 16 month old doesn’t know how to swim and loves to walk around and explore. He can’t really run yet but he’s quick anyway. He’s pretty easy in the way of feeding and napping, pretty straightforward toddler stuff. My in laws have babysat him a little less than 10 times, mostly for just an hour or two, but once overnight at our house. I generally feel comfortable with them watching him, the worst they’ve done is feed him black tea with sugar and cake (🙄🤦🏻‍♀️) but they’ve kept him safe.

We’re supposed to be going on vacation and they offered to watch him for 1 full day so my husband and I could go out for the day. The resort hotel is a big 2 bedroom apartment style room and there are a ton of pools and hot tubs. I think also a walking path near a lake. Obviously it’s not child proofed so I would be watching him like a hawk knowing he doesn’t know the risks of water and whatever else he might find there.

Would it be crazy to leave him for the day with my in laws? I’m thinking maybe I shouldn’t plan on doing this anymore.
