Do exes come back??

Has a guy ever dumped you for whatever reason out of the blue, and then you hear from them after time has passed? Like them coming back? My now ex randomly dumped me after everything was going GREAT and didn’t really have a real excuse except how he didn’t see us working out…and his struggles with commitment and still not over his ex (all of this was news to me) and this was all after we mutually agreed to be exclusive like a week before his decision. I tried reasoning and asking him to take consideration before being fully sure. Anyways, I’m very hurt and still dumbfounded as to what happened and he reassured me it had nothing to do with me (I hope he was telling the truth) but also wonder if he plans to slither back around after time. I feel robbed of time and investment to this guy who I was beginning to really like a lot. I wouldn’t take him back, but do dumpers do that? Or I guess any ex? I’ve never hit up someone I’ve dumped in the past…then again guys are like that.
