How many ounces of solids for 8 month old?

I’m just wondering how many ounces of solids my 8 month old should be eating a day. I read online that he should be getting 12 oz total in meals plus 2 snacks(3 4oz meals+2 snacks). That seems like a lot to me so I figured I’d ask what you all think.

Babe should just be starting on 2 meals a day. 
Table food needs to be introduced now too. Being on purées only for too long can increase the risk of choking, picky eating, and other struggles. 
Roughly follow:
6-8m 1 solid meal a day
8-10m 2 solid meals a day (should be off purée only in this time window)
10-12m 3 solid meals a day (you’ll see more consumption at this point)
12+m 3 solid meals and 2 snacks a day
Consumption isn’t the goal at this time. Learning to bring food to the mouth, bite, chew, spit, and swallow food safely is the goal. 
Make sure babe is feeding themselves.

At 8m old it should only be 2 times a day and just a little bit. Also at this age baby needs to be on real foods and off puree. 
Breastmilk l/formula is main source of nutrition for entire first year and always should be given first then 30min later solids.

The amount consumed isn’t super important for the first few months. A few tbsp is sufficient as the main source of nutrition should still be breastmilk or formula.

My doctor said whatever he eats. It’s good to encourage 6m up but not until 11/12m. My son probably would eat a jar a day but 99% he wanted to be breastfed or he wanted solids such as spaghetti, fresh steam carrots,peas, rice he pretty much was offered what we ate but follows the baby led guidelines for cutting and preparing. But honestly he did more playing in it than actually eat don’t stress if he’s not always eating it.
