When is a good time to text him again?

I caught up with this guy I used to talk to. I’ll call him a friend because we never actually dated but there was a romantic connection. Anyways, he texted me Tuesday for my birthday and we talked for a bit. Towards the end of our conversation, he said “Drop in and say hi every once in awhile and I’ll do the same!” I want to text him again but….is it too soon? How often is “every once in a while” lol

I’d text him today because the Super Bowl gives plenty of opportunity if you’re into sports or not to start a convo.  If he is into it you could ask if he got any squares and how his numbers are.  Or where he’s going to watch the game and what snacks there will be.  If he’s not into it you can ask if he’s heard there’s an Usher concert today with some sports balls going on around it or how many baskets he think will be scored or send any one of the hundreds of funny memes and reels with the Superb Owl or animals explaining football.
