Could you forgive this?

Hi ladies, I wanted to share what I’m going through currently to get some outside perspective… I know we all are different and choose to live life differently but all opinions would be appreciated! So, I found out recently that my boyfriend of four and a half years was on dating apps 5 months into our relationship. Long story short, a friend of mine found him on one sent me a screenshot and I immediately broke up with him but gave him a chance to explain.. he said all the right things all the right lies to make me stay in the relationship for the next four years. I never felt okay with the situation because what he had said then, none of it made sense, so I know I was stupid for staying despite feeling that but I loved him and believed he was a genuine person. It’s been an issue every now and then where I’ve told him I don’t feel right about the answers he gave me since they didn’t make sense to me and so on Thursday I got him to admit he was using the apps when he said he wasn’t and had been lying to me the whole time about that. He claims he wasn’t sure if he was in love with me then but that as soon as he almost lost me over it he knew how much I meant to him and lied so that he wouldn’t lose me which he realizes was selfish. He said the day I confronted him about it he immediately deleted all apps and promises from them on he never did anything to break my trust which I do believe is true. If you were in my position and you felt you loved someone, could you forgive and get back with them if they did this? I don’t want to tolerate cheating of any form but I know in the age we live in, it might be inevitable to encounter some form of cheating/dishonesty so I’m not sure if him being loyal after the app situation is enough to forgive him lying about being on them.
