How much clothes to buy.?

FTM here and expecting in 3 months I have gotten some onesies but idk how much sleep and play or outfits I will need of each size. Any ideas so I can start purchasing I rather have everything before baby is born than wait and buy when I need. I think those things I should already have but don’t want to purchase more than I should either since I’ve heard baby’s outgrow them so quickly. Also how can I choose between shampoos/body wash , what brand is best? There are so many baby brands for that,lotion,colic drops,etc,etc..

It will completely depend on how big your baby is at birth and how quickly they grow! There is no way for any of us to know either of those so if you want to buy ahead of time I’d suggest a weeks worth of each article of clothing to start with and then go from there. My son was 8lbs at birth never lost any weight in the hospital and gained weight incredibly quickly so he outgrew all his newborn stuff within the first 2 weeks. He will be 4 months on the 26th and is already wearing 9-12 month clothing! No way I could have guessed he would grow this quickly so I have many outfits he never even got to wear before he outgrew them ☹️

What I did was get a week’s worth of each size + 2-3 extra (10) in case of accidents. It’s a lot easier to buy after the baby is born VS having clothes they never wear. I also recommend thrifting! You mainly need NB and 0-3 at first. Go to 2nd hand baby stores! I’ve gotten so much for hardly anything, most brand new that no one used. We LOVE zip sleepers, they’re so easy to change them in. Basically anything without actual pants. As far as soap/skin stuff, try buying gentle. I hear good stuff about Honest and Vivvi. We use whatever we got at our shower honestly. You’ll learn what their skin prefers. We bought Parent’s Choice colic drops and Wellements.

I got 5 of everything in newborn size but I do laundry every other day. Im glad i didnt buy any other sized clothes as we were gifted loads in different sizes and were given gift vouchers as well
