How do we break up

I’m in a sticky situation right now. My bf and I have been on the fritz for some time, and I don’t see it getting any better. We live in his mom’s house right now from moving across the country. I have a job that I really enjoy but don’t make a lot of money at, and he’s been in and out of work since we’ve been here.

He just recently got hired for a really good job that he will be making a lot of money at, but it’s over seven hours away. His company will be paying for housing and food etc. I can’t work remotely and I don’t want to find a crappy job to work at for six months where he’ll be. I’ll be stuck here at his mom’s house while he comes back home on the weekends.

The problem is we’re already not doing great at all. I love him more than anyone, but there’s things we can’t get past. He decided he wants kids and I don’t. I want to get married and he doesn’t. In my head it’s already over, but I can’t express that and I don’t know how to go about it. My family lives 2000 miles away, and that’s my only option for a concrete place to live, as I don’t make enough money for rent where I am and I haven’t made any friends here that I could room with. We have an understanding that in the event of a break up I would take our two cats, and he would take the dog. I don’t know if my car can make the drive home with just me, my cats, and a trailer with all my stuff. It’s at least a three day drive.

I’m about to take a work trip where hopefully I’ll be making a good amount of money (I’m in sales and make commission). I’ve been saving money in case of an emergency like this, but it’s not much.

Please don’t be cruel with your comments. For reference we have been together for almost eight years now. People grow and change and we’ve grown into people that don’t share the same goals and dreams anymore, despite how much we love each other.

Any advice and/or kind words are appreciated. I’m feeling really stuck about this.
