Bf wouldn’t be with me if i were chubby.

I (19) made the mistake of asking my bf of 4 years if he would still be with me if i gained weight and got chubby/fat. i expected his response to be yes cause he’d love me no matter what right? he instead said he didn’t know and was more on the side of no. he values looks more than i think he should and it makes me feel really bad about myself. i’ve always been super skinny but i’ve went from 100 lbs to 116-120 the past few months and i just keep gaining more and im getting noticeably chubbier in some areas i’m not sure what to do about this. i would be with him if he gained weight, he was chubby when i met him. is it normal for him to be unsure if he’d stay with me in the future if i got big?
