Salary lowball... help
I have an interview tomorrow for a job I applied to awhile ago. I looked more closely at the job listing and did some market research, and the salary is way too low compared to the national average and most comparable job listings. It's $20-25k for 20 hrs a week, whereas the national average is more like 58k-65k for full time plus benefits, so it really should be more like $30k per year at least. I also have experience beyond their minimal requirements. Everything Im reading online says if they ask salary requirements, to give a number within their range as the low end and up to 10% more, but in all honesty that would still be quite low. I really need the income right now and it is a remote job which is great, and I know remote jobs are super competitive so I should be grateful to even get the call (Ive been applying for awhile with not much luck), but I also dont want to resent working for less than whats fair. Im going to try to avoid the topic altogether until an offer is on the table, but if they ask if their range is okay, what should I say? Im having mixed thoughts/feelings. Does anyone have experience with this?
