He whines, I can't....?

Why does he want an overly confident girl who basically can't have a negative feeling? I don't like to be insecure or negative but I'm a female human and we just do. I show lots of confidence and very rarely negative about anything. But if I ask him if I look like a goober in a certain hat he got a little snippy and said "why do you care, it keeps you warm". I could post a million filtered pics on FB and he would like them. But to me that screams for attention and a bit conceited. If I need to vent for feeling lousy he cuts me off. It's very rare! But......

It's ok for him to whine about being stressed out, so so sick, tired, just be a Debbie downer at times. Please help me make it make sense!
