Help me not be an asshole
I(25F) have been seeing this guy (22M) for the last three months. I really like him and we get along well and it’s been nice dating him. However the last 2-3 weeks he’s wanted to hang out every single day. All day. I work from home and he’s not working right now (layoffs) and first asked to come by while im working because it would help him focus on job applications. At first I didn't mind, wfh can be lonely. Plus my apartment has a lot of space; it's a 3 bed room townhouse w/ one of the rooms as a dedicated office space. On the contrast he lives in an apartment w/ 3 other roommates. So I get wanting a quiet place to focus. Ive even let him use the spare room for interviews.
It's just I need my personal space. I like spending time w/ him and I think 3-4 days a week is fine but it feels like I have an unintended roommate. He's not messy or anything and is very respectful. To make matters worse yesterday he said hes very depressed from being laid off from his first job and spending time w/ me is the only thing that makes him happy.
How do I gently communicate to him that I still want to spend time w/ him, just not everyday of the week? Like I can tell he gets disappointed when I say I’m busy or spending time w/ friends.
