How to not be awkward with dating!?

I have seen this guy out and there has always been a connection. About a year ago I asked if he was single and he wasn’t at the time so we just moved on. We continued to see each other out but just didn’t speak. Well this past weekend he approached me, we talked and exchanged numbers. Now that we have talked I didn’t really feel a connection but I for sure came off awkward. I was previously married and just now getting back into the dating scene but I’m so awkward and weird, how can I improve this? Thanks!
