First time parent needing some advice
So my son is in second grade. He did had to repeat first grade. Well I had a meeting the other day with his teacher and the school psychologist and they are concerned because he is behind on his reading. They told me if I was ok with it, the school psychologist can run an evaluation to see if there’s any concerns like ADHD or to see if he qualifies for special education. I told them I’ll take it into consideration. Well yesterday they send the forms so I could sign and while I was looking at the questionnaire, it really spooked me on the amount of questions they are asking about my son. So, now I’m overthinking it. My son is a very smart boy that even his teacher has said that his use of vocabulary words is impressive because he uses big words. He just struggling on his reading and not reading at grade level. For me, I do see that my son does have a hard time reading and writing when I work with him. I want my son to be successful. It just this evaluation has me like I don’t know. Am just a first time mom and he is my only baby so this can be a little scary for me. I do want what is best for him. So any opinions/advice will be helpful. What you think? Should I continue with the evaluation?
