Is mom right?

I don’t get it. My ex situationship broke up with me and told me we needed to grow individually and that maybe one day we can try again but rn he wants us to move on. But then he doesn’t want me to block him from social media. He told me not to put anything about guys or even guys friends on social media. Told me that he’ll block me and keep our friendship work-based (we work together) if he sees anything about other guys. Doesn’t want me hanging around another guy, even tho HE SAID TO MOVE ON??. Told me not to have other guys around work. Assumed I was having sex with another guy already and was mad. I told him I wanted to quit and he said he doesn’t want that. Which is especially weird because for so long, he told me I should quit to better our relationship. But then anytime I talk to him, he still insists that we “need time”. My mom said she thinks he’s hoping I’ll stay single and alone so he can come back when he wants and that he wants me to stay at the same job so that he can keep tabs on me.
