Does this mean he isn't ambitious?

Im an extremely ambitious person. I have always had this thought process that I want to concur the world and work up in the world. I'm currently working on my Masters. I've went on a few dates with this guy and idk if he isn't ambitious or if I'm being judgemental. I know he's also in college but he said his only dream is to honestly be a librarian...  I asked why and he said he likes books and working in a library is something he's wanted since he was 13. He doesn't want to be a millionaire. He just wants to live a quiet little life. I feel like everyone would rather be rich. If someone had the choice to be rich they would choose to be rich. I think it's weird all he wants in life is to be a librarian and not strive to something higher.

I think you need to move on. Maybe do some soul searching. Money isn’t everything and following your passion does not mean you lack ambition.

not everyone wants to be rich. if you want someone that is materialistic and cares more about money than their passions than obviously he’s the wrong guy for you but I think you’ll find that people that care too much about money, like you, lack in other departments. like personality.

I mean…Library Directors make a very good salary and you have to have, at the least, a master’s degree. So just because it might not be an exciting field for you, it definitely doesn’t mean that he isn’t driven. He knows what he wants and he’s going for it. Better to do something you love then do something you hate because you’re chasing dollar signs.

We did a major life change about 3 yrs ago and opted for the quieter life. We are much happier. We actually enjoy life and each other a lot more than when we were working so much and stressed and keeping up with a big house. Watch videos of elderly people and life lessons. None of them say they wish they had more money or more stuff. They say things like none of those things matter in the end, what matters is their time, relationships etc. If hes a bum thats one thing, but he is working towards a goal and wanting to work. But honestly given your mindset I dont think youre compatible, he deserves someone who supports his dream, not just reluctantly tolerates it or resents him for it.

You're being super judgemental. As someone who worked in libraries for years not only is he choosing a career that he will need an advanced degree but he is choosing a highly competitive field that usually pays very well. No he isn't gonna be a millionaire but many people don't want/need that. Money doesn't equal success and the selfish drive for a bigger bank account doesnt mean ambition at all.  In the end besides wealth what are you striving for? He knows he wanta masters degree and this career...what are your plans? You're also very belittling him by saying "just" a librarian. How is that any different.that any other career? Do you expect to find someone who is gonna become the next CEO of Ford or a elite speciality surgeon? Having lots of money means shit in the end. Me and my husband live a quiet but amazing life on a homestead where he makes decent money at his job. We could have the 7 figure life had he went to work for his dad but he didnt want to nor me want him too. My inlaws are VERY rich. Like fly to Bora Bora just because on a rented private jet, own Lamborghinis, lives on an estate in a 10,000 sq.ft mansion....all that. His siblings have similar lives due to nepotism. Me and my husband and waaaaaaay happier than any of them and wouldn't trade our life for theirs ever. If you can't respect he knows whats important to him and what he wants then find someone who only wants to chase the bank number because neither of you will be happy at this rate.

😵‍💫 not everyone wants to be rich & that has nothing to do with ambition. Some people want simple, meaningful lives.. rich in other ways that have nothing to do with monetary value. Wanting to be a millionaire is a materialistic desire. Not everyone is materialistic. Some people just want to have enough money to live comfortably, but have no desire to “rule the world” or have copious amounts of money to spend on whatever. Sounds like you two are not compatible. Also sounds like you could learn a thing or two about other perspectives and realize yours isn’t the only one out there. We all have different journeys and visions for our lives. Doesn’t make anyone wrong or “unambitious”.

Both of you want different things and they are both great ambitions. You want to be rich while he wants a peaceful life with love and maybe a dog and kids he can spend time with etc. my husband and I are very well off but I would trade that in a second for a small quit life by the beach with my family spending more time with them. We are just lucky we both work from home so we get to spend more time with the kids. But the point is, wanting to be rich is an ambition,  wanting a quit life is an ambition, wanting to be a housewife with just your kids as priority is also an ambition and one doesn’t make the other less. Life is too short to say everyone one has to want the same things to be happy. That is just miserable for a lot of people.

Does this mean he isn't ambitious?
