My ex threatened my kids

This morning I woke up to a barrage of text messages from my ex. It was hateful, saying that he hated me then he said “they can all die in a school shooting for all I care” I’d like to know if I’m able to press charges for threats based off the comment he made about my kids. I’m not sure if it’s actually a threat since he said “for all I care” instead of “I’m going to” but the fact those words even came to his mind left a bad taste in my mouth and I took it as a threat
