Being told I'm "collecting gays like Pokemon"

I'm not sure if this is a compliment or insult. I'm 49 and don't have any kids. I have my niece, nephew, and cousin living with me. My niece is 23, move in when she was 16 because she got kicked out for being a lesbian. My cousin is 27. He moved in when he was 20 because he got disowned for being gay and now my 15 year old nephew is living here. Also disowned for being gay. They help around the house and with the store I own. I had a lady who comes in regularly was talking to me. She asks why do my family members always come here when they get kicked out for being gay. I'm honestly not sure. I took in my niece and now when it happens they ask to come here and I said yes. She said I'm collecting gays like Pokemon. Is that an insult or compliment?🤨
