Did I overreact or misread the situation?
I live in an apartment complex and this person with three dogs (two pits and one random breed) had them on the leash and I noticed they were barking and trying to get away from the owner but I simply moved my daughter to in front of me and continued to walk in the sidewalk one of the pits got let loose and went after my four year old and my legs while walking and I had to drop the stuff I had in my hands and pick her up turn my back and try to get away and let the dog get me and not her. It was nipping at my calf and finally after I told this man to get his dog he pickup up the leash and yet another dog out out of its collar and he had to yell at all three and get them inside. I’ve never had an experience like this with any animals before and while the man was telling me what sounded like it’s okay it didn’t seem or feel like the dog was in anyway just trying to say hi. The barks were so aggressive and I really felt fear I’ve never experienced either. Did I overreact in this situation or did my reaction fit this situation? What would you have done?
